FBE - Forum for the Built Environment
The Faculty of Building (FoB) was established in 1946 and grew to be a national organisation representing a very wide range of
disciplines in the construction sector. Through social events and professional training, the FoB enabled contacts to be made and
strengthened. As the construction industry developed and integrated with a wider range of industries and professionals, the FOB
changed to incorporate members from the wider building environment. They invited us to rebrand their expanding organisation.
New ideas, old image
FoB came to us with an image problem. They wanted to
reinvent the perception of their organisation and make
it both relevant and useful as a networking forum for executives and workers in the built environment sector. Neither the name or the image reflected what the organisation actually did. It was time a for radical rethink.
We researched members and staff to get a broad view
of the organisation before we recommended a complete rebrand and most importantly, a name change.
Taking us seriously
We renamed it ‘Fbe’ (Forum for the Built Environment).
This was suitably similar to the abbreviated FoB that members were already familiar with, but encompassed actually what they did. As for our new logo, the rather staid executive board thought we were joking at first, it was far too radical for them - we may have changed their name,
but not yet their thinking. Gradually they came around
and understood our reasoning and rationale to the point
where they really loved the bold look of the new brand.
